Directive and Steerable Radiation Pattern using SASPA Array

This work examines the ability of a special type smart antenna array known as Switched Active Parasitic Antenna (SASPA) to produce directive and electronically steerable radiation pattern. The SASPA consists elements that are switchable between active parasitic states by using P-Intrinsic-N (PIN) diodes. element is supplied radio frequency while short-circuiting terminals an in results element. Due strong mutual coupling elements, directional pattern with high gain small beamwidth can be produced only one operating at time. By changing state sequentially for all directed easily rotated. structure used this uniform circular (UCA) achieve symmetrical patterns full coverage entire azimuth plane. Also, novel method reducing effect arrays proposed work. method, some parameters generated SASPA’s controlled. simulated obtained from depict N-element SASPA-UCA produces N-symmetrical, switchable, gain, beamwidth, Front-to-Back (F/B) ratio. show further improvements these achieved increasing number array.
